Free At Last

It all happened so quickly. Last night the Emperor's sons were brutally murdered. The Emperor, however, survived. His personal guard, the blades came into my cell this morning. The Emperor was with them. they were just as surprised to see me as I was to see them. Apparently my cell was the location of the entrance to a secret escape passage out of the Imperial city. I'm sure the official in charge of the placement of prisoners is gonna get it for putting someone in that cell.

As the Emperor was passing through my cell, he saw my face and gasped. He said something about seeing me in a dream or something. There was something about last hopes and all that but I just dismissed it as the ramblings of an old man. The blades must have forgotten to shut the secret passage behind them. I followed but when I reached the wooden door it was locked. Suddenly all of my hopes for freedom vanished. Then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was a hole in the wall. Behind it was a series of caves filled with rats and goblins. Luckily, I had found a rusty, iron shortsword to defend myself with. The rats I can understand but I honestly don't know how these goblins were able to set up camps down here.

After traversing those caves for sometime I found myself back in a more structured tunnel. At first I thought It was just another section of the sewers, But then I bumped into the Emperor and his entourage. One of them was about to escort me back to my cell, but their captain said no and told me to make myself useful and carry a torch. Just then we were ambushed, but not by goblins but devils. The captain of the blades, Baurus I think was his name, shouted at me to go with the Emperor and protect him with my life while they held off this front.

I followed the Emperor down a side passage. It was a dead end. Then the Emperor turned and faced me. He told me that he was not afraid of death for he had read it in the stars that this would be his day. He took off a necklace and handed to me. He told me to take it to his one remaining son. He said that he had also seen that it would be up to me to stop this madness and "Close shut the Jaws Of Oblivion". Suddenly, one of the demons appeared right behind the Emperor and slit the old man's throat. As the Emperor fell to the ground I attacked this demon and stuck it's heart with my weapon. There was a cloud of red and black smoke. I stood above a man in a blood-red cloak.

When Baurus heard my story he told me to take the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre at Weynon Priory outside of Chorrol. He told me that if the Emperor had given it to me then I was to be trusted. Now I sit at a table at the Wawnet Inn, nursing a pint of ale and considering what to do next.
