The Difference Between A False God And Gods Who Ignore Pt 3

The next step was to reclaim the city of Kvatch from the remaining Daedra. Naturally, my help was wanted. We forced open the gate and fought out way towards the chapel which was the now the only way in ot out of the rest of the city; for the chapel's tower had collapsed blocking the road completely. Once we had cleared the area of Scamps and Clanfears, we entered the chapel.

I found Martin Septim. He was the exact opposite of what I had expected. A monk. The Last Heir to the Imperial Throne is a monk. Who would have thought. When I approached him, his first words were that if I were looking for a priest to go somewhere else for he was having trouble understandiing the gods right then. I took him down to the undercroft and explained the situation to him. He responded saying that he couldn't just leave these people to their fate. Just then one of the guards came through the door asking for me. I followed him back upstairs, leaving Martin to consider the situation.

The Captain wanted to launch a recovery mission of the City and to rescue the Count of Kvatch. Again, he wanted me there alongside his troops. I felt as if I had been drafted into the service and made a mental note not to linger around the city for too long after we were finished. We fought our way to the castle only to find our way hopelessly blocked. The Captain sent me back to the chapel to retrieve the key to the guard house from Berich Inian, who was still at the chapel with two other soldiers. Berich wasn't too pleased about how "close" I was getting with the Captain, so he decided to accompany me, as so did three Imperial soldiers who, from the road, had seen smoke rising from the city.

Once inside the guardhouse we opened the gate so that the capatain and those with him could enter the courtyard. We shortly joined him in the courtyard where two of the three Imperial soldiers and Berich fell dead in the fray. Upon Entering the main hall we found the Count's throne smashed, and the seatting torn as if by claws. Needless to say the Daedra had made their way into the castle as well.

The Captain sent me ahead to search for the Count while he and those few soldiers who remained cleared a safe passage out of the castle. I ran into some lesser Daedra as I made my way towards the Count's personal quarters and of course I dealt with them. What I found in the Count's Chambers was a most gruesome sight. The Count's body, bloody and tortured, was sprawled out on the floor with a Scamp Daedra standing over it. I quickly disposed of the beast and paid my respects to the dead man, setting him up on his bed, arms folded and eye closed. I removed the Count's Signet Ring to give to the Captain. It would be up to him to keep what was left of Kvatch together.

I did not leave the castle empty-handed mind you. There was way too much silver left unattended in what was left of the feasting hall. I returned to the Chapel where Martin was waiting for me. He had decided that it was in the nation's best entrance to come with me to Weynon Priory. And so our journey towards victory began.

In the end it wouldn't matter if the gods were false or the nine were just ignoring us. We could not sit and hope for some greater power to build the Dam to stop this flood of destruction. We had to take a stand and bring about the fall of this shadow with or without the help of some higher power.

The Difference Between A False God And Gods Who Ignore Pt 2

After my adventures in Sandstone Cavern, I decided to resume my journey to Kvatch. I would pawn off the jewls that Slyth had brought to his false God, and by myself a new weapon. However, when I approached the long upward road to Kvatch I was approached by man who was crazed with fear. He told me that Kvatch and most of its population had been swallowed up by all matter of Daedra. Now Slythe's words about Kvatch made sense. I ran up the road until I came upon a camp of refugees. The surviving population of Kvatch no doubt. I asked around about Martin until one old priest told me that he had stayed behind to help as many as he could and that he might still be alive, holed up in the chapel. I ran further up the road until I was before the city gate of Kvatch.

That was when I saw it. I great gate, wreathed in flame. Something from the darkest depths of nightmares. A man who called himself Salvian Matius, Captain of the Kvatch troops, approached me and demanded to know what I was dong there and about how I was in danger. In turn I did some demanding of my own. I was basically an Imperial servent at that point and had been kept in the dark for most of my service. He told me that the gate was some sort of portal to the daedric realm of Oblivion. Now I had heard of Mages summoning Daedra from time to time when doing battle, but this kind of perversion was unheard of. My whole attitude concerning my mission changed at that point. I had to rescue Martin Septim from this Hell on Earth and get him to the safety of Weynon Priory, even if it meant going through that Gate myself. The Captain advised me against it, saying that none of his troops had returned out of the Gate or found a way to close it. But I went on through anyway.

Oblivion is Hell. I have no doubts about that now. All but two soldiers were dead, corpses charred or devoid of skin or even flesh. Only one made it back through that gate to our world alive, and he was the one who sent me in the direction to close the gate. The other soldier was a prisoner in a tower. I fought my way to rescue him, but when I had cleared the way he simply gave me the secret and told me to leave him. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. He told me that the secret to closing An Oblivion Gate is to remove the Sigil Stone from its place in the Sigil Keep which is located in the top of the main tower. I told him I would do this and return for him. However, when I had retrieved the stone, I was sent back to our world, without the catured soldier. He was gone, left to endless days of torture. I vowed that I would never let that happen again. Though I could hear what was left of the Kvatch guards cheering my name, My soul was crushed.

The Difference Between A False God And Gods Who Ignore Pt 1

I awoke this morning to find that my host had gone from the house. I hate farewells so it really didn't bother me. I left the house and went on my way towards Kvatch so that I might find the heir to the throne, bring him back and be done with this. I was betting on the guy being a snot-nosed brat.

When I was close to Kvatch, I ran across an abandoned farm. Shetcombe I believe it was called. I decided to check the farmhouse for supplies. Inside I found the first page of a diary by a man called Slythe. Apparently something had happened to Kvatch. According to Slythe, all of Cyrodiil was in danger. The wrath of a creature called the Sunken One had been evoked and now Kvatch was in ruins. Slythe and his ancestors had been worshippers of the Sunken One.

This Sunken one was obviously some Daedric Lord of some sort. I figured that with all the craziness involving Daedra, this was worth my time investigating. Seeing as how our enemy was Dagon and not this creature, it was possible that I could get some answers about what we could expect from this Slythe. The Creature's lair was nearby in a place called Sandstone Cavern. Luckily It was not out of my way and would not disturb my quest for the last Heir. That Brat could wait a tad bit longer. Sandstone cavern was an easier conquest than my previous adventure into Moss Rock Cavern. I found a few more pages of Slythe's journal scattered in a trail. At the end of that trail I did find Slythe, but he was dead, offering to the Sunken One in hand. The I saw it. The Sunken One Came down on me from above. I defended my self in the dark, slashing the creature with my weapon. After sometime everything was still; the beast was dead. I lit a torch and looked upon my enemy. It was no Daedric Lord at all. Only a stone Atronarch. I picked up the last of Slythe's journal. The page was written with dying hands. He believed that he had failed and that all of Cyrodiil was doomed. He had died in vain. No Slythe, you did not fail.

And that is a false God

The Long Road Ahead

I wondered the roads for a day before coming to the Roxey Inn. The Innkeeper, Malene, must have seen my weapons and thought that I was some sort of mercenary. She told me of a Necromancer that had taken up residence near the Inn. Raelynn the Gravefinder, as I'm told she called herself, had been causing all manner of undead to walk the nights and frankly this was bad for business. When Malene offered a reward I set off to find Raelynn's lair, Moss Rock Cavern. Dealing with the Necromancer was much easier than I had imagined and sure enough I was rewarded for my efforts. However the reward of 20 gold was pitiful at most. While the job was easier than I had imagined, It was still difficult. The underground cavern was filled with zombified freaks.

I did find a nice amount of weapons which I planned to sell to the first arms trader I came across. The nearest city was Chorrol so I figured why not. As I came near to the city I saw Weynon Priory. I thought of the Emperor's last command. Why not just honor a dead man's last request? Just leave it with the guy and leave. So I brought it to this Jauffre. The man is a old monk and as soon as I hand it over to him he demands to know why I have it. I thought I was gonna wind up back in a cell. So I tell him my story and for some reason this old monk finds it to be believeable. I don't know how anyone could even begin to find that tale remotely plausible.

But here is the real kicker. He tells me that I have to go all the way to the city of Kvatch and bring the Emperor's bastard child back to Weynon Priory. I was just supposed to drop off the necklace and go on with the rest of my life. But it appears that Jauffre and the Nine have other ideas.

Tonight I am staying in the house of a man named Thorley Aethelred. A warm bed and an enchanted tome were my reward for helping him with his West Weald Bear problem.

Free At Last

It all happened so quickly. Last night the Emperor's sons were brutally murdered. The Emperor, however, survived. His personal guard, the blades came into my cell this morning. The Emperor was with them. they were just as surprised to see me as I was to see them. Apparently my cell was the location of the entrance to a secret escape passage out of the Imperial city. I'm sure the official in charge of the placement of prisoners is gonna get it for putting someone in that cell.

As the Emperor was passing through my cell, he saw my face and gasped. He said something about seeing me in a dream or something. There was something about last hopes and all that but I just dismissed it as the ramblings of an old man. The blades must have forgotten to shut the secret passage behind them. I followed but when I reached the wooden door it was locked. Suddenly all of my hopes for freedom vanished. Then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was a hole in the wall. Behind it was a series of caves filled with rats and goblins. Luckily, I had found a rusty, iron shortsword to defend myself with. The rats I can understand but I honestly don't know how these goblins were able to set up camps down here.

After traversing those caves for sometime I found myself back in a more structured tunnel. At first I thought It was just another section of the sewers, But then I bumped into the Emperor and his entourage. One of them was about to escort me back to my cell, but their captain said no and told me to make myself useful and carry a torch. Just then we were ambushed, but not by goblins but devils. The captain of the blades, Baurus I think was his name, shouted at me to go with the Emperor and protect him with my life while they held off this front.

I followed the Emperor down a side passage. It was a dead end. Then the Emperor turned and faced me. He told me that he was not afraid of death for he had read it in the stars that this would be his day. He took off a necklace and handed to me. He told me to take it to his one remaining son. He said that he had also seen that it would be up to me to stop this madness and "Close shut the Jaws Of Oblivion". Suddenly, one of the demons appeared right behind the Emperor and slit the old man's throat. As the Emperor fell to the ground I attacked this demon and stuck it's heart with my weapon. There was a cloud of red and black smoke. I stood above a man in a blood-red cloak.

When Baurus heard my story he told me to take the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre at Weynon Priory outside of Chorrol. He told me that if the Emperor had given it to me then I was to be trusted. Now I sit at a table at the Wawnet Inn, nursing a pint of ale and considering what to do next.

Awaiting Death

As I sit here in my cell in the Imperial Prison, I am forced to wonder why I did the things I did to end up here awaiting the rope. The theft, the murder. I never belonged to any of the guilds which supported these lifestyles.

Today is my 20th birthday as well as the three year aniversary of my imprisonment. I'd much rather spend it out there. What I would do to get another chance. Someone is coming. Better put this away.
